Rio is a wonderful place to be with children. Early
in the morning the beach is the thing to do, but late in the
afternoon... Carioca babies that know their way around meet at Ipanema's
Nossa Senhora da Paz Square (see map ). |
It is a chance for children to have contact with plants, grass, and
other babies and kids that live in the neighborhood. Working mothers count
on the help of dedicated babysitters to insure their children can run
free, without worrying about cars. |

Sometimes a ball is all you need to keep one entertained. Ask Fred about it! In Rio playing soccer reasonably well is a must so Cariocas
start very young. Let's take a closer look at this attractive play area in
the back! |
Seems our young model could not resist the photo opportunity. In
addition to all the grass, this area has a sand bank to insure children
won't get hurt in case of an inevitable fall. Want more
pictures of the square? Be our guest! |
