City view of Ipanema from Lagoa Park. The structure
planted on the hill used to be a restaurant and disco
named Berro D'Água. Today it is a cultural center with
sports and programs catering to the popular communities
of Cantagalo and Pavão. |
From Lagoa you also have a view to Leblon with hills
Dois Irmãos and Pedra da Gávea. This photo was taken
from the other side of Lagoa, near Catacumba Park. |

Clube de Regatas Flamengo, the world headquarters of
Rio's favorite soccer team, is right across from Lagoa at
the border of Leblon and Gávea. A good trick to get you
inside is saying that you want to buy the official
Flamengo shirt at the club shop. If you are lucky you may
run into your favorite soccer player! |
Parque dos Patins is across from Catacumba Park, on
the way from Ipanema to Botafogo. With a number of
gourmet kiosks and sports courts it is one of Lagoa's
most attractive spots. This is also where you rent those
swan-shaped pedal boats you see on the lake. |
