Bar Vinte is the name of a square right in the beginning of Rua Visconde de Pirajá, next to Leblon. Until the mid 70's cable cars used to run between Ipanema and Copacabana. This is the spot where they made a turn, so the street is wider around here.

Bar 20 is home to one of the most traditional ice-cream factories in Rio, Sorveteria Itália. Make sure to try the mango sherbet! There are also several stores selling electrical supplies, tools, lamps and home accessories in the area.

At night strong spotlights help drivers dodge the monument - adding a final dramatic touch. So far they have not installed the steps that would open the overpass for pedestrians just a few feet away from residential windows.

We spotted him on site on the day the project was launched. Photo taken by Marcos Silviano for ipanema.com | All rights reserved. Todos os direitos reservados.
