Breakfast, the special of the day served at lunchtime, or an afternoon snacks are perfect opportunities for you to enjoy the courtesy and friendly service. The breakfast menu is served throughout the day. Among the options available, a favorite is Café da Tata with fresh-squeezed juice, hot tea, coffee or chocolate, fresh fruit, a basket of assorted fresh-baked rolls, butter, jam, homemade pão de queijo (delicious Brazilian cheese roll), cold cuts, cake and a sweet roll. Or you may just stop by to enjoy a cup of fresh-brewed cafezinho carioca (homemade coffee) with any of the homemade cakes, bread and rolls. At lunchtime you will find a genuine homemade food Carioca style – it’s the closest to having lunch at a local friend’s home. From Monday to Thursday there is a special of the day, and main courses may be fish, chicken or meat. Side dishes include vegetables and a fresh-tossed salad. On Fridays the special is the Bacalhau Espiritual (spiritual cod-fish), a Portuguese specialty with a special Carioca touch. On Saturdays the special is the famous Feijão da Táta, their version of the favorite Carioca dish, the feijoada. Enjoy the bean stew seasoned with beef jerk, sausage, thinly sliced kale, pumpkin, rice and farofa (pan-toasted manioc flour). If you have been out all day and you feel like having a special snack, try the sandwiches, omelets, pies and quiches, empadas (a bite-sized pie with assorted fillings) to go with your fresh-squeezed juice or hot chocolate. You can make reservations at Da Casa da Táta. We suggest you reserve your table especially if you intend to go on Saturday or Sunday.
