Where to Stay - Lodging in Rio

Where to Stay in Rio

The lodging scene has changed a lot since we went online, in 1996. We are keeping up! There are many more hotels, traditional properties changed hands, and went through a complete makeover. Prestigious international labels built new hotels in Barra. Family-owned hotels in prime areas renovated inside out.

To make your life easier, you can start choosing by area. The neighborhoods with sea beaches are Recreio and Barra da Tijuca, São Conrado, Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana and Leme. Historical areas like Botafogo, Flamengo, Glória and Centro are bathed by Guanabara Bay. There are parks, green areas, and even beaches - but the water is not suitable for swimming. You will find maps, photos, listings, and you can pick out your the price range, favorite features, mix and match before getting a quote.

Another criteria that makes sense is the star rating system. There are five-stars with a great location, a wonderful spa. Four star hotels and flats offer lower rates, yet sometimes almost as many qualities. Condo hotels or apart-hotels offer units complete with a kitchenette, sitting area, and one or two bedrooms with daily maid service.

We picked out three-star hotels in the best areas, and you will find cozy properties for the budget-minded traveler. Our two-star selection features only hotels with air-conditioning, a minibar, and private bathroom. All pages include maps, complete listings and photos.

The interactive list of favorites is where you pick out your favorites, using criteria that makes sense to you! Take advantage of our local expertise, use your favorite booking service to get the best rates. We hope you enjoy your stay!
