happened on Saturday after Carnival (Feb. 24th), with the 6 samba schools that scored best in the special group. It started at 9 p.m. with Vila Isabel, the winner of Carnival 2006 now placed sixth best.
The schools that followed
were Viradouros (5th) Unidos da Tijuca (4th), Mangueira (3rd), Grande Rio (2nd) and the winner of Carnival 2007, Beija-Flor.
This night
our team went to the concentration to follow the backstage action. We watched first-hand the brave performance of two beauties selected as floatees climbing up a shaky ladder into the spotlight. We interviewed the youngest baiana of a samba school. We ran into local celebrities and TV stars, and then followed a percussion band all the way to the dispersion...
