Floats are related to the theme chosen by the samba school. They usually set the mood for the wings that follow behind. If the them is Brazil for instance, the floats may represent different areas of the country. The wings behind them will also have costumes related to that particular region. Try to find out what the theme of each school is, and you will appreciate the parade much better.
