Baianas - All samba schools have a wing (or section) of Baianas. Unlike other wings, you cannot pay your way in - Baianas are all ladies from the community. Their traditional costume features round colonial skirts, and they may easily weigh over 90 pounds! Baianas are not supposed to do the samba - When they want to bring down the house they simply spin.
